Peculiar things around the world – Chamberí (Madrid Metro)

The subway station Chamberí in Madrid is a now closed station located between the stations of Bilbao and Iglesia.

Opened in 1919 it was built with light colored azulejos to make people use the subway more.

In 1966 it was closed due to the impossibility to enlarge it to accommodate longer trains.

It was kept closed for 40 years, until in 2006 it was renovated to become, in 2008, a museum.
